 John will be demonstrating his methods of creating exciting light effects in watercolour, using his process of setting rich vibrant low tones against paler colour washes. This Classical European oil painting series culminates in Part 3 when what has been learnt from Parts 1 and 2 allows students to forge their own style and work from personal subject matter. 22. ‘INSPIRATIONAL INDIGO SHIBORI’
Indigo is such a magical colour, there is no other like it. During this course you will be shown how to produce Shibori fabrics using stitched, tied, wrapped and folded resist techniques on natural fabrics for quilting, embroidery and textile art. Traditional designs and contemporary interpretations will be demonstrated. After dyeing the materials, you will go on to make a small piece of textile art from your unique fabric.

A detailed practical investigation and exploration into the vernacular architecture of N.E Norfolk. Be inspired by the textures, surfaces and colours of old Norfolk buildings such as windmills, farm barns, quaint cottages, bridges and churches and work in pen, pencil and watercolour on small fragments and close ups rather than whole buildings.

27. ‘WEATHER IN WATERCOLOUR'
A change in the weather changes everything in landscape painting. Using simple brush techniques washes and strong use of tone this course lets you explore ways to enhance your painting in watercolour. Rain, wind, fog and snow all create atmosphere and suggest a spirit of place, bringing an air of subtle reality to the most impressionistic landscape. 32. ‘SKETCH THE BROADS from ‘Golden Sunset’
See and sketch the unique Broadland scenery from the Centre’s own Edwardian motor launch moored opposite the Centre. After an initial short studio session each day, enjoy daily river excursions in this prettiest part of the northern section of the Norfolk Broads National Park. The very best way to experience the magic of this unique wetland area, which is home to many species of wildlife and flora, is from the water. Angela loves the Broads and will give demos and guidance throughout when moored up, covering a range of quick and easy drawing and painting techniques suitable for sketch book working. Go home with a visual diary of your experiences, which together with your photographs, can form the basis and inspiration for many more finished pieces.
